Well, I was thinking about that “Resonating Oops” for a while. I made quite a number of experiments. I some cases I was able to get interesting results but the “Resonating Oops” is very illusive. I do know that many readers of my site have wrong perc...

With the project of the 6-chennal Super Melquiades is about to hit its final stage I might to review my summarizing observations. The 6-chennals Macondo is driven by 6-chennals dedicated DSET Melquiades, that looks like properly orgies for the job. T...

Well, I have to admit that I did not listen the whole sound of AC vs. DC filaments yet. I will bring home today my DC lab supply that I use for my electromagnet coil and will give the try. I still at this point am not concerned about the “whole ...
I feel very pleased for you. I was always somewhat puzzled by your descriptions of how you felt the S2 sounded, particularly between 600 and 1200 Hz. My experiences with a few different horns but always with a good quality...
Well, the Cogent (Steve Schell and Rich Drysdale) boys are building just such a beast: field coil magnet, (possible) permendur polepieces for >2T, Fs 70Hz, throat - dunno, but at least 3" dia, reduced compression ratio relative t...
Having said that I've never heard a properly working WE555 or 594 either and given the problems of getting the S2 to work well I can't imagine there are many installations using those drivers with the right sort of horns t...

John Hasquin showed up a couple days ago and suggested that many of modern compression driver manufacturers design thier products to get the "best" publishable parameters while completely disregarding any basic horn design rules and actual sound resu...

As I wrote before I picked some Vitavox S3 driver.
http://www.GoodSoundClub.com/TreeItem.aspx?PostID=8619
and I was expediting with them recently to use in Fundamental Chanel. My idea was that S3 might care LF knee better then S2. In past I had S3 ...

Interning that the strings and are the primary beneficiaries of the “Injection channel” effect. It would be hard to explain to people who never were not in my room what the effect is but I would try. (Yoshi you have to visit me again and what I tried...
I'm probably revealing my ignorance by even asking this, but I'm curious to know if a field coil ribbon tweeter could be practical. It occurs to me that if one could be made, it would be a lot safer since it wouldn't be a black...

Yes, I do feel that letting a diaphragm to idle less (means
more loading) you can tame the code resonance, and the ringgy metal cone in particular
but it might be done in context of worsening upper transients and over-damping
the lower driver knee...

tarted to mount the open baffle for ULF channels at my
attic. The system is fully operational,
not time aligned yet to the degree that I would like it to be but I'm going to
tell you: that Tannoy Red 10 is something that makes everything so sweet...
AlloI had a theory that the bug screen was helping to damp horn modes/refelctions caused by a mismatch between the S2 internal flare and the horn flare rate. I have 340Hz flare JMLC horns, which may be expected to give less of a mism...

Here is the similar approach undertaken with Altec 288C to the one that I took with my Vitavox

Some critiques. A minor mistake in the text is that the author says that “magnetic fields generated will go down to ...

Ok, did today the Red’s tweeters. Got rid of the original Tannoy’s
cable mounting plate and ran my own cable directly from twitter. Drove it with Milq’s full range channel. Used
the speaker level 2uf cap (my favorite high voltage eQube coupling cu...

Yes, Rulit does try to push envelop of something. He does exiting projects but I do not know how all of it manifests itself in actual results. I said that he pushes the “envelop of something” as I do not know what this “something” is. I never h...

Well, there are a few places that can re-charge the drivers, GPA can do it for sure but it is not practical in my view as to remove the drivers from attic horns and to ship them is more pain then to pay to GPA $20 to re-charge them. The re-chargi...
I will slowly upload, as time permits to write them, different posts on the subject of Ultimate MF Compression Driver.
This will be a bit controversial subject among the compression drivers users but it is only ...
I have spent hours coming up with all sorts of weird and wonderful, but at other times too rigid systems to support the various components comprising what I modestly choose to call Le Horn (AKA Rakeshorns). I have more or les...

It is very uncommon, practically never happens but still very rarely it is possible to talk about sound or playback systems from a prospective of “absolute tone”. Yes, the audio people love to take about tone of their audio but in 99.999% those audio...

Most of you know that I built Romy's horns for him. The one thing that you may not know is Romy recently requested additional horns from me. He wanted some 250Hz tractrix horns made for an upper-midrange Vitavox S2 compression driver. Being very...

Well, I screw-in today the S2 with filed-coil into my horn. I decided to drive it with 2.4A. I used a regulated DC PS and did not employ my prepared for this tusk 4.2 Farad capacitor: the voltage is too high for my cap. The current gave me a ni...

I made today some interesting experiment and for the first time during my “fundamentals channel saga” I get some stimulating and very result. I find a way to mount the “low frequencied S2 driver” on the speaker’s axe way above the Macondo’s tweeter. ...
OK, now, after mach thinking, consulting and very little actual listening I have finally conceptualized my next move with powering Macondo MF channel. Considering that I have some extra space Melquiades’ ...

I was keep listening my Dutch-made SA8535 tweeter. There is a lot of deferent with this tweeter and I think it is a good time to pass my early observations about the tweeter Sound.
This driver is not a ribbon tweeter as the Stage Acompany frau...

First of all thanks to all who assist me with this project, including those who did not post here.
Jim, Electraprinted Jack is great guy but he does not believe in exotic cores, very unfortunate because I like to deal with him.

I have been asked by a number people who monitored my progress with RAAL’s “Water Drop” tweeter: “Romy was it worth it?” Well, I think after a year of leaving with tweeter, learning and satisfying it’s little habits I might pass some generalizing obs...

I was trying to strategize what would I do it tomorrow someone get in touch with me and offer my $50K. In another words what would I do to convert the Altec 19 to Cetla Ledom? This is an interesting discussion itself as it gives a blueprint for me...
